My Next Book
I am currently researching a project I have long wanted to attempt—a merger and reconciliation of the four Gospels. Here is an excerpt from the Preface to give you a bit of the flavor of the book I plan to write:
When I published Parts 1 and 2 of The Old Testament Made Simple, one of my readers said they hoped I would do the same for the New Testament. The entire New Testament is too big a bite to chew, but I have long wanted to study the four gospels with a view to merging them into a coherent whole. That is the purpose of this book.
When I first began this project, I had hoped to be able to present Jesus’ ministry in chronological order. Unfortunately, I soon realized that this was an unrealistic goal, for the Gospels are not history books and there is simply much we do not know. Even Luke, the most methodical of the Gospel writers, does not always adhere to a strictly chronological presentation. So the best we can do, and what I have tried to do here, is to follow what scholars believe to be the approximate order in which Jesus’ ministry unfolded. . . .
Please let me know what you think of this idea by emailing me at [email protected].
