Why is this happening?
Torrential rains and flooding in Vermont and northern New York State.
Out-of-control wildfires in Canada.
Scorching temperatures in the American Southwest that exceed 110 degrees and could reach 119 degrees in places.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, from 1980 to 2022 an average of 8.1 weather events per year caused losses exceeding $1 billion (adjusted for inflation). But from 2018 to 2022 that average ballooned to eighteen per year. 2023 has already seen twelve.[1]
What is happening?
Since the beginning of the industrial revolution in the late 19th century, humans have significantly increased the amount of carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere by burning fossil fuels—coal, oil, and natural gas. Carbon dioxide traps more of the Sun’s heat before it can escape into space, which in turn warms our atmosphere and our oceans.
When the air is warmer, summers become hotter—sometimes much hotter. Warmer air also holds more moisture, so storms become wetter and more severe, causing more flooding and more damage.
And warmer air increases evaporation so dry places become drier. As anyone with a fireplace knows, dry wood burns faster and better than ‘green” wood—and so do dry trees.
What we are experiencing is exactly what climate scientists have been telling us for many years—that our climate is changing because of the higher amount of carbon dioxide in the air.
What the climate scientists don’t tell you is that our changing climate might be the fulfillment of biblical prophecy. Chapter 11[2] of my first book, Beyond Blind Faith, talks about this. You can read the entire chapter on this website, for free, here: https://dondavidson.net/apocalypse-soon/.
