We Win

Published by DonDavidson on

Many years ago my wife and I taught a weekly Bible course at our church that encompassed the entire Bible. I think it was called the Bethel Bible Series.

As I recall, the course covered all of the Old Testament books in the first half of the course and all of the New Testament books in the second half. And the last day of the course was, of course, about Revelation.

I remember feeling panicky about teaching Revelation, for there is so much symbolism in that book that I do not understand when it talks about the Last Days, the Final Judgment, the Battle of Armageddon, and the New Jerusalem. But we both knew this: we win in the end.

In Ephesians 6:11-17, Paul paints a word picture of the spiritual warfare that we constantly wage against the wickedness, temptations, and schemes of Satan. Paul urges us to “put on the full armor of God”—truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the word of God—so that we will be able to resist the Devil.

This spiritual warfare evidently culminates in an epic battle between the armies of Satan and Christ, which is described in Revelation. I confess that I do not understand how the details of that warfare will actually manifest on earth.

But I do understand this much: we win in the end because we are on Christ’s side, and he wins.

It’s not too late get on the winning side if you aren’t already there. I talk about it here: https://dondavidson.net/not-so-simple-salvation/.
